Abstract

Social media has become a necessity for obtaining information as well as a medium for communication. One of the social media platforms that serves as a source of information is Twitter. Twitter functions as a public space where everyone can access information and share their thoughts freely. The freedom to use Twitter is utilized by various individuals for promotion, discussion, and influencing public opinion. One such individual who utilizes Twitter is Ganjar Pranowo. Ganjar Pranowo's Twitter account has been active since 2010 and currently has 3.5 million followers.
The research employed a positivist paradigm with a quantitative approach. The sample used in the study consisted of students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, majoring in communication, from the 2020 batch. Data collection for the study involved questionnaires and documentation, which were then analyzed using t-tests, linear regression, and coefficient of determination. The results of the study indicate that there is an influence between Ganjar Pranowo's Twitter posts (X) and political image (Y), which was tested using SPSS with a t-test result of 0.003 < 0.05 and a coefficient of determination of 40.5%.
