Abstract

Motif, or motive, refers to the reasons and drives within humans to undertake certain actions, and it can also be interpreted as a driving force. In the context of social media, individuals have their own motives for accessing and following specific accounts, whether for information or entertainment. This study aims to determine the motives of followers in accessing the Instagram account @menjadimanusia.id using the uses and gratification theory.
This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data were collected through interviews with ten informants selected based on set criteria using purposive sampling technique.
The results of the study indicate that personal identity motives are the most dominant factors influencing followers of the Instagram account @menjadimanusia.id. This is evident from the fact that followers use the platform as a means to express themselves, seek motivation, and feel connected to a community with similar values.
