Abstract
This research discussed the use of English talk show videos on YouTube as a tool to enhance students' listening skills at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Through semi-structured interviews with four seventh-semester students from the English Language Education Department, the study explores the students' perceptions regarding the effectiveness of these videos for language learning. The findings reveal both positive and negative perceptions among the students, highlighting the benefits of improving listening skills, acquiring new vocabulary, enhancing pronunciation, and engaging with multimedia content. However, some challenges were found such as varying accents, speaking speed, and unfamiliar vocabulary could hinder comprehension. This study concludes that although talk show videos have some challenges, they can improve listening skills also be one of the interesting learning media. The suggestions given to students is that by using these media, it can further improve their skills, especially listening skills. However, students can also use other media that have more tools in learning or improving their skills. Besides, for future researchers to consider an action research approach for a more in-depth analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of using these videos in a language learning context.
