Abstract

This study aims to find out how YouTube can help 2nd grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mauponggo in improving speaking skills, because based on the observations and interview conducted by the researcher before starting the research,the researcher found that 2nd grade students had problems in speaking. Moreover the researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as a method in this study where there were four steps consisting of Planning, Action, Observation, and the last was Reflection. At the planning stage the researcher prepared various things needed including teaching materials, learning media, learning models, learning implementation plans, observation sheets and also tests. At the action stage, the researcher did all the things that have been prepared in accordance with the lesson plans . At the observation stage, the researcher must observe all activities carried out in the classroom, and at the reflection stage the researcher reviewed the results of the three stages that were carried out previously. In the last cycle , the researcher found that as 80% students had reached the KKM. Because this research was declared successful if students achieved KKM scores (75), then this research was declared successful.
