Abstract

Learning vocabulary is very important in learning English. Advances in e-learning have a positive impact on the vocabulary-learning process. Songs are one type of media that can help students become more familiar with vocabulary. In this digital environment, researchers chose to use the Spotify application. This research aims to explore or find out students' perspectives on using songs on the Spotify application to increase vocabulary. The subjects of this research were English language education students in the 2020 class at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, with 50 respondents for the questionnaire instrument and 3 respondents for the interview. The results show that out of 50 students, as many as 43 had positive perceptions. Thus, the percentage of students with positive perceptions reached 84% of the total respondents. Respondents agreed that songs on Spotify can increase vocabulary, and respondents agreed that the application has several advantages that make it an effective vocabulary-learning medium.
