Abstract

The quality of education can be seen from the discipline of each individual student in the school environment. The order to be disciplined is not intended to reduce or curb students' freedom. The rules in schools are of course intended for the good of the students themselves. Based on initial observations made by researchers at Sayyid Yusuf Talango High School, there were several student disciplinary problems, including students who did not carry out their obligations as students, namely dressing untidily and not carrying out assignments given by the teacher and copying answers to friends' assignments. Sayyid Yusuf Talango High School carries the motto "School Rasa Pesantren, Students Rasa Santri", so Islamic Religious Education teachers should have a strategy in instilling discipline in students.

This research aims to; 1) Knowing the factors that cause class XII IPS students to violate school discipline at Sayyid Yusuf Talango High School. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data sought in research is through observation, interviews and documentation. The research subjects were students in class XII IPS at Sayyid Yusuf High School. 2) Knowing the strategies of Islamic religious education teachers in instilling discipline in class XII IPS students at Sayyid Yusuf Talango High School.

The results of this research show that; 1) there are two factors that cause students to violate discipline, namely the first is an internal factor that comes from within the student in the form of feeling lazy and bored to comply with school rules and the family environment. The second factor is external factors originating from the school environment and peers. 2) the strategy of Islamic religious education teachers in instilling discipline in students is by providing good examples, giving advice to students, raising awareness among students, and giving strict sanctions to students who violate school discipline.
