Abstract
Background: WHO in 2020 stated that only 44% of babies worldwide received exclusive breast milk in the period 2015 to 2020. When babies are six months old, their need for nutrition and energy begins to exceed breast milk, so complementary foods for breast milk (MP-ASI) are needed. Complementary breastfeeding food (MP-ASI) must meet the requirements of being timely, nutritious, safe and given correctly.
Improper provision of MP-ASI increases the risk of digestive disorders such as diarrhea. The number of diarrhea cases in Kedungkandang District in 2022 will reach 227 sufferers. The aim of this research is to find out the description of giving MP-ASI
to toddlers who experience diarrhea in Malang City.
Method: The study design used a Quantitative descriptive research design. Conducted at posyandu in the Wonokoyo area from June to July 2024. The total sample was 44 respondents with mothers who had children aged 6 - 24 months and had a history of
diarrhea. Samples were taken using a total sampling technique using a questionnaire providing MP-ASI. Data processing uses frequency distribution analysis of principles of implementing MP-ASI.
Results: The results of univariate analysis of respondent behavior in determining the age and texture of MP-ASI provision in the "appropriate" category (81.8%), respondent behavior in choosing food implementation in the "less appropriate" category (70.5%), respondent behavior in determining the amount or portion of food in the "appropriate" category (84.1%), respondent behavior in determining the frequency of food provision in the "appropriate" category (79.5%).
Conclusion: : In this study, the provision of MP-ASI that was less appropriate was found in the implementation of the provision of Complementary Foods (MP-ASI)
