Abstract
This study aims to examine Azyumardi Azra's views on Islamic education based on local wisdom. In the era of modernization and globalization, local wisdom values are often eroded by the times, which causes students to be increasingly separated from their culture. Azyumardi Azra, a prominent scholar in Indonesia, emphasizes the importance of maintaining and integrating local values into the Islamic education curriculum. According to him, relevant and contextual Islamic education should incorporate positive local values to enrich the learning process and strengthen learners' cultural and religious identity. This research uses a library research method with a content analysis approach to examine Azyumardi Azra's perspective on local wisdom-based Islamic education. The results of this study are: First, Islamic education based on local wisdom according to Azyumardi Azra emphasizes on strengthening individual culture and religion, creating a deeper and contextual understanding of Islamic teachings, increasing the relevance of Islamic education in everyday life, and encouraging students to be able to appreciate and preserve local traditions and culture. Second, the integration of Islamic education curriculum with local wisdom according to Azyumardi Azra refers to an approach that includes contextualization between culture and history, implementation of cultural values in educational practices, relevant curriculum development, contextual learning methods, and teacher training.
