Abstract
Background: Cardiovascular disease is a major public health problem throughout the
world, one of which is in Indonesia. Congestive Heart Failure occurs because the heart is
unable to pump enough blood to meet the body's oxygen and nutritional needs. One of the
symptoms of heart failure is shortness of breath, therefore nurses must carry out
management of shortness of breath which can help to reduce the shortness of breath felt
by the patient. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a combination of semi-
Fowler position, deep breathing exercises and oxygenation on breathing patterns in
patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).
Methods: The research method used in preparing this final scientific paper uses a case
study report. The author follows the scientific method according to the rules of the
nursing process which includes assessment, data analysis, nursing intervention,
implementation and evaluation referring to the SDKI, SLKI and SIKI. The assessment
process uses data collection with interviews, observation, documentation and
participatory studies.
Results: After carrying out nursing intervention in the form of providing a semi-Fowler
position, deep breathing technique and providing oxygenation, the results were an
improvement in the breathing pattern in the patient Mr.
Discussion: Congestive Heart Failure occurs because the heart is unable to pump enough
blood to meet the body's oxygen and nutritional needs. Heart failure becomes an endless
cycle, the more the ventricles are overfilled, the less blood can be pumped out so that the
accumulation of blood and stretching of muscle fibers increases.
