Abstract
(Background) Self-medication or self-medication can be defined as a way of obtaining and consuming medication without using a prescription. One of the minor illnesses that can be treated with self-medication is diarrhea. Students are easily affected by diarrhea due to not maintaining their diet, experiencing stress and so on.
(Purpose) The aim of this research is to determine whether there are differences in the level of knowledge and self-medication actions for diarrhea among undergraduate health students at Muhammadiyah University of Malang.
(Research Method) This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with a Cross-Sectional approach with the sampling technique used in this research is Purposive sampling with a sample of 100 respondents. The results of data analysis in this study were tested using Univariate tests using SPSS.
(Results and Conclusions) The results of the Knowledge Level of Pharmacy undergraduate students were the best, namely 75%, 63.2% for undergraduate Medicine students, 63.2%, 8% for Nursing undergraduate students, and 6.3% for Physiotherapy undergraduate students. Furthermore, for Diarrhea Self-Medication Actions from Undergraduate Pharmacy students the best rate was 12.5%, for Undergraduate Medicine students it was 0%, for Undergraduate Nursing students it was 4%, and for Undergraduate Physiotherapy students it was 0%. It can be concluded that there are differences in the level of knowledge and self-medication actions for diarrhea between Bachelor of Health students, where it can be seen that the level of knowledge and action is the best in Bachelor of Pharmacy students compared to other Bachelor of Health students.
