Abstract

East Kalimantan Province as one of the gateways of development in Eastern Indonesia, has the highest income economic development on the island of Kalimantan which shares the consequences of large infrastructure needs as well. mining roads in Batu Kajang City were built to facilitate traffic on mining roads that continue to grow. From the mine road in Batu Kajang City, a flexibel pavement road will be planned with the aim of adding new access to new coal sources to the ROM (Raw of material), due to the condition of the existing road which is still in the form of a gravel road, an overlay is needed. The concept of overlay refers to the process of supporting one image or element on another. overlay refers to an additional layer of asphalt located at the top of the road surface structure. Its purpose is to increase the thickness of the road layer so as to optimize its function for transportation users. To ensure the proper thickness of the road overlay, the authors used two comparative ways to establish a safe and substantial overlay. The methods used are: Bina Marga method in 2017 and AASHTO in 1993 with the planned results, the thickness of the additional layer (Overlay) Bina Marga Method of 10 cm with a work cost of Rp 7,341,948,000 (Seven Billion Three Hundred Forty One Million Nine Hundred Forty Eight Thousand Rupiah). And the thickness of the additional layer (Overlay) AASHTO Method of 17 cm with a work cost of Rp 10,836,588,000 (Ten Billion Eight Hundred Thirty Six Million Five Hundred Eighty Eight Thousand Rupiah).
