Abstract

Korean dramas are stories or fictions that describe the lives of South Korean people. Drama is a genre of film that generally tells a conflict clearly and describes a point of view from various groups and ideologies in society. Film is also a form of conveying messages on gender injustice in the form of hatred of women referred to as Misogyny behavior represented in a film. One of the Korean dramas used as a unit of observation is a drama entitled The Glory, because the female character in this drama is depicted far from a positive figure. In this study, researchers analyzed the act of Misogyny in the drama The Glory using a qualitative method and this research uses a constructivist paradigm, and this research uses content analysis with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic approach, namely the triangle of meaning which consists of three elements, namely the sign (sign), object (sign reference) and interpretant (sign use) as an analysis of Misogyny behavior from The Glory drama. Based on the results of the analysis in this study, Misogyny behavior in Drama The Glory in the form of inequality of treatment, physical violence, insults, harassment, exploitation of sexual acts, and also the idea of negative stereotypes of women's work is reinforced by the scenes played by female characters in this drama, as well as the negative portrayal of female characters, namely women who have low self-esteem and marry rich men to be able to reach a higher social class.
