This research examines the types and implied messages of associative meanings in the lyrics of Iksan Skuter album Benderang Terang 2016. It identifies various types of associative meanings to enhance understanding specifically within song lyrics. The speakers convey implied messages through each lyric aimed at their listeners. Based on this, the research questions are formulated as follows: (1) What types of associative meanings are found in the lyrics of Iksan Skuter album Benderang Terang 2016? (2) What are the implied messages of associative meanings in the lyrics of Iksan Skuter album Benderang Terang 2016?
This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a semantic approach. The data source is the lyrics of Iksan Skuter album Benderang Terang 2016, retrieved from the Musixmatch website. Data obtained will be processed through several steps: (1) data collection, (2) data simplification or reduction, (3) data presentation, (4) drawing conclusions. From these processes, several types of associative meanings are identified: connotative meaning, stylistic or social meaning, affective meaning, reflective meaning, and collocative meaning. Additionally, there are implied messages contained within the lyrics.
Based on the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the lyrics of Iksan Skuter album Benderang Terang 2016 contain five types of associative meanings: Connotative, Stylistic/Social, Affective, Reflective, and Collocative. The most dominant meanings are Stylistic and Reflective. Stylistic meaning reflects the socio-cultural conditions of the speaker, with dialects arising from various life backgrounds. Meanwhile, Reflective meaning includes alternative understandings of the same expression and arises in cases with dual conceptual meanings.
