KETERBUKAAN KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL HUBUNGAN JARAK JAUH ORANG TUA DAN ANAK (Studi Pada Perwakilan Mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang Angkatan 2019 yang Berasal dari Sumbawa)

The move of students from their home area to Malang forces children and their parents to have long-distance relationships and requires children to maintain a harmonious relationship with their parents through interpersonal communication. This research aims to find out how aspects of openness are applied in interpersonal communication in long-distance relationships between parents and children. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang who came from Sumbawa. Data collection was carried out by interviews and observations in July 2023. The results of the research showed that not all aspects of openness had been fulfilled, but it was also found that self-disclosure efforts were made to avoid parental concerns. Positive communication from children creates a positive response from parents. The frequency of communication does not change the breadth of topics of conversation between parents and children.
