Abstract
Background: Vaginal discharge is an excessive discharge from the vagina that is not blood, can be physiological and pathological. Personal hygiene is defined as individual behavior in maintaining health and hygiene. Personal hygiene specific to genital hygiene is called personal hygiene genital care. Vaginal discharge is one of the most common health problems found in women, especially in adolescence and young adulthood. One of the conditions thought to be associated with this problem is personal hygiene, especially menstrual hygiene.
Objective: To determine the relationship between menstrual hygiene behavior and the incidence of pathology vaginal discharge.
Methods: This type of literature review is a narrative review sourced from google scholar and pubmed by applying the research question (RQ) which is how the relationship between menstrual hygiene behavior and the incidence of vaginal discharge. Results: A data search was conducted, and 12 out of 22 journals were included in the inclusion criteria. Based on the analyzed research journals, it was found that there were several women of childbearing age who did not apply personal hygiene genital care practices.
Conclusion: Menstrual hygiene practices are associated with increased incidence of pathological vaginal discharge. The importance of education and implementation of good menstrual hygiene practices is clear to reduce the risk of leucorrhoea complaints.
