Abstract
Cinderella complex is a psychological addiction that is expressed as a strong desire to be cared for and protected by other people, especially men. Cinderella complex is described as a subconscious desire to be noticed by others, it is simply a fear of being independent. A lack of self-confidence hinders women's independence, because they often feel incompetent and suppress their own initiative and desires. The formulation of the problem in this research is (1) what are the characteristics of the Cinderella complex in late teenage girls in the novel Cinderella Complex by Lovya Diany, (2) what are the factors causing the Cinderella complex in late teenage girls in the novel Cinderella Complex by Lovya Diany. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The data source in this research is the novel Cinderella Complex by Lovya Diany. The data in this research is information related to the characteristics and factors that cause Cinderella Complex in the form of sentences, paragraphs, monologues and dialogue between characters in the novel Cinderella Complex by Lovya Diany. Data collection techniques in this research are reading techniques and note-taking techniques. The research instrument in this study uses tools in the form of data capture tables and codification tables. The data analysis technique in this research consists of (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) drawing conclusions. From the results of the analysis and discussion, it was concluded that in the novel Cinderella Complex by Lovya Diany, the characteristics of the Cinderella complex were found by female characters in their late teens. The characteristics of the Cinderella complex in question are women's lack of self-confidence, women are less capable or even unable to do things themselves, women have a desire to get help from other people, especially men, women have a desire to be cared for and protected by other people. others, especially men, dependent women can be happy if they humble themselves, women present themselves as if they are helpless, women have difficulty in communicating, women have a fear of being independent, women have high romantic ideals, women have a strong emotional attraction to father figures or a strong figure of masculinity. The contributing factor is that the influence of parental parenting in the family plays an important role in determining the level of independence of children, especially girls. Apart from that, personal maturity which is influenced by the environment and an immature personality also plays a significant role, as does a woman's self-concept in assessing herself. One of the strong factors in triggering the cinderella complex is parental parenting.
