Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease caused by a decrease in insulin
production due to lack of functioning of the pancreas, resulting in an increase in
blood sugar levels in the body. .Diabetes is a chronic disease that cannot be cured,
and patients experience various life processes that greatly affect their quality of life.
Purpose: To find out how eating patterns affect glucose levels in patients with type
2 diabetes mellitus. Method: The research method used was qualitative research
with a case study research strategy. This research was strengthened by applying
triangulation through direct interviews with 3 participants. Results: The results of
the research produced several analyzes from interview data which had been
researched and validated by participants, 3 main themes were obtained, namely 1)
Dietary Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients, 2) Sleep Pattern
Disorders, and 3) Self-care Management. Conclusion: Knowledge of patients and
other participants is still lacking in preventing type 2 diabetes mellitus, resulting in
patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus and resulting in a long healing
process.
