Abstract
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that is usually characterized by high
blood glucose levels above normal and is also characterized by metabolic
disorders of both fats, carbohydrates and proteins. According to the Indonesian
Ministry of Health (2021), the increase in people suffering from this disease in
2021 in Indonesia will reach 19 .47 million people and will increase in the
following year until 2045, namely 28.57 million people. This increases due to
family factors, their daily activities, both physical and sports (Anna et al., 2021).
This research aims to analyze nursing care for families with diabetes mellitus
problems in the Mulyorejo Community Health Center working area.
Method: Design the final scientific paper for nurses using a case study approach.
In this case study, the researcher provided comprehensive nursing care to a family
with diabetes mellitus problems for 4 days including: assessment, determining a
diagnosis, nursing with reference to the IDHS, preparing an intervention plan
using SIKI, carrying out nursing actions, and evaluating the patient.
Results: The author identified 3 nursing problems, namely: non-compliance,
health behavior that tends to be risky, and readiness to increase family coping.
Nursing interventions carried out include support for compliance with treatment
programs, education on health behavior and family coping support.
Discussion: Things that must be considered when providing nursing care to
families with diabetes mellitus problems are related to medication compliance and
behavior that must be in accordance with recommendations. If this is not enough,
the recommendation needed for families is to increase family coping for
sustainable self-care. .
