Abstract
Introduction: Internet dependence is a condition where a person is driven to use longer time to access the internet that can cause various problems such as problems at work, relationships with people around and even disrupt health. East Java is the fifth highest in internet usage at 81.26%. Objective: to determine the description of internet dependence in nursing students. Method: This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional research design with purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were 145 nursing student respondents. Results: the results of this study showed that more than half of the respondents experienced mild internet dependence (53.8%). With the majority being female, namely 108 (74.1%) people. The majority of them use the internet for more than 5 hours per day, namely 134 (92.4%) people who are used for lectures, social media, reading news, checking email, watching videos, chatting and playing online games. However, the majority of their GPA is more than 3.0, namely 138 (95%) people. Conclusion: students are vulnerable to internet dependence because almost all students access the internet for more than 5 hours a day, but even though the majority use the internet for more than 5 hours a day, when viewed from its use, not all of them lead to negative things because almost all use the internet for lectures, reading news and sending emails.
