Abstract
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is influenced by age, smoking, blood sugar levels, stress. Increasing age causes aging and problems with respiratory function, digestion, vision, hearing. Cigarettes contain nicotine which causes worsening metabolic control. In addition, high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemic) affect the sleep quality of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
Method: This research design used cross sectional. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling (n=109) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data collection used demographics, smoking questionnaires, glucometer tests (GDS), PSQI questionnaires and analysis in this study used the univariate, bivariate test , Spearman correlation test.
Results: The correlation between age and sleep quality has a correlation coefficient of -0.237. with a significant value of 0.013. The correlation between smoking and sleep quality has a correlation coefficient of 0.394 with a significant value of 0.005. The correlation between blood sugar levels and sleep quality has a correlation coefficient of -0.022 with a significant value of 0.823 .
Conclusion: The conclusion of research results on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Mulyorejo Community Health Center shows that age and smoking have a significant relationship with sleep quality. Meanwhile, blood sugar levels have no relationship to sleep quality
