Abstract
Background: The decline in the physical abilities of the elderly also affects changes in body composition, causing changes in body shape. Changes in body composition in the elderly occur due to increased fat mass, decreased fat-free mass and decreased bone mass. Changes in the composition of the elderly body in the form of an increase in the proportion and distribution of body fat, especially increased fat accumulation in the abdomen gives a picture of abdominal or central obesity. This can affect the health status of each elderly person (Paramurthi et al., 2021). Objective: to know and identify the corellation of physical activity with body mass indeks on elderly in Panggungrejo Village. Methods: This study used an observational method using a cross sectional study design in the elderly community in Panggungrejo Village. Results: based on the results of hypothesis testing obtained results 0,000 which value is smaller than 0,05 (0,000 <0,05) which means that there is a relationship between physical activity and body mass index in the elderly in Panggungrejo Village. Conclusion: this study obtained the results of a strong relationship between Physical Activity and Body Mass Index in the Elderly in Panggungrejo Village. This is because most of the elderly who continue to work with high physical activity tend to have a normal body mass index and vice versa in some elderly who have light physical activity have the potential to have a BMI towards pre-obesity to obesity class I.
