Abstract

Background: Workload and job satisfaction are important factors influencing nurses’ performance and the quality of hospital services. Excessive workload may lead to fatigue and stress, while job satisfaction plays an important role in maintaining nurses’ motivation and commitment. Previous studies have reported inconsistent findings regarding the association between workload and job satisfaction.
Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 294 staff nurses working in private hospitals in Malang Regency were selected using purposive sampling. Workload and job satisfaction questionnaires were chosen to collected data and analyzed using the Spearman correlation test with a sig. level of 0.05.
Results: The results showed that most nurses experienced a moderate workload (52.4%) and reported very high job satisfaction (88.1%). Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.998, indicating no significant relationship between workload and nurses’ job satisfaction.
Conclusion: There is no significant association between workload and job satisfaction among nurses in private hospitals in Malang Regency. Nurses’ job satisfaction may be influenced by other factors such as work environment, compensation, and managerial support rather than workload alone.
