Abstract

Background : Mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress are on the rise among the elderly and can affect their sleep quality. Quality sleep is important for the physical and mental health of the elderly. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of depression, anxiety, and stress and the quality of sleep of the elderly at the Posyandu of Bokor Village.
Methods : This study uses a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. Respondents are elderly aged 60 years and above. Data was collected using the DASS-21 questionnaire to measure depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) for sleep quality. The statistical test used is the spearman test.
Results : Of the 109 respondents, 64.2% experienced poor sleep quality. The majority of respondents were in the normal category for depression (81.7%), anxiety (63.3%), and stress (78.9%). The analysis showed a significant relationship between depression rates (r = 0.263, p = 0.006), anxiety (r = 0.332, p = 0.000), and stress (r = 0.341, p = 0.000) with sleep quality. Older people who experience higher levels of depression, anxiety, and stress tend to have poorer sleep quality.
Conclusion : This study concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of depression, anxiety, and stress and sleep quality in the elderly. The highest population in the rate of Depression, Anxiety and Stress are farmers and the majority of those who have Depression, Anxiety and Stress are women.
