MAKNA LATEN ISU SOSIAL KONTEMPORER PADA VIDEO KLIP (ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA ROLAND BARTHES PADA VIDEO KLIP “RENEGADES” KARYA ONE OK ROCK)

This study aims to analyze the latent meanings of contemporary social issues depicted in the music video Renegades by One Ok Rock using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method. This music video was chosen because it portrays deep symbolism representing issues such as racial discrimination, restricted freedom, and environmental degradation. By examining denotative meanings, connotative meanings, and myths, the findings reveal that Renegades is not merely a visual artwork accompanying a song but also a mass communication medium that conveys messages of resistance against injustice and emphasizes the importance of solidarity in addressing global issues. The visualization of protest scenes, racial tensions, and resistance against oppressive systems creates strong symbolic meanings about societal struggles. This study contributes theoretically by expanding the application of Roland Barthes' semiotics to music video analysis and offers practical benefits for the public in understanding social issues, as well as for the creative industry in producing meaningful works that drive positive social change.
