Abstract

Introduction : Knowledge level issues can influence hypertension control behavior in the elderly. A good level of knowledge is for positive behavior in controlling hypertension in the elderly. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and hypertension control behavior in the elderly.
Methods : This research uses a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. Respondents are elderly aged 50 and over. Data was collected using a knowledge level scale questionnaire for knowledge level and a behavioral questionnaire for hypertension control behavior. The statistical test used is the spearmen test.
Result : Of the 121 respondents, 90.1% experienced negative behavior. The majority of respondents were in the low level of knowledge category 47.1%, experienced a medium level of knowledge 41.3%, and experienced a high level of knowledge 11.6%. Analysis shows a significant relationship between level of knowledge (r=0.197, p=0.031), and behavior (r=0.197, p=0.031). Elderly people who experience a low level of knowledge tend to have negative behavior
Conclusions : This research concludes that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and hypertension control behavior in the elderly. With the population with the highest level of low knowledge, it is those who have negative behavior.
