Abstract

Introduction: Bullying is a psychosocial problem that has serious impacts onmental health, including increasing the risk of self-harm behavior. Self-harmbehavior is carried out to relieve emotional stress without suicidal intentions, but has long-term consequences for individual well-being
Objectives: This study aims to analyze the relationship between bullying and self-harm behavior in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Methods: The study used a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 326 students selected through cluster sampling and simple random sampling techniques. The instruments used were the California Bullying Victimization Scale-Retrospective (CBVS-R) questionnaire to measure bullying and the SelfHarm Inventory (SHI) to measure the level of self-harm.
Results: The results showed that most respondents had experienced bullying (56.1%) and most had low levels of self-harm (68.1%). Data analysis using the Spearman Rank correlation test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.225. This indicates a weak positive relationship between bullying and self-harm behavior, meaning that the more often someone experiences bullying, the more likely they are to self-harm. Conclusions: This study concludes that bullying has a significant relationship with self-harm, so multidisciplinary interventions are needed to prevent and address both of these issues. The results of this study can be a reference for developing policies and programs to prevent bullying and support students in dealing with its impacts
