Abstract
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy need to follow a strict diet to maximize the benefits of treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between family support and dietary adherence in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at Wava Husada Kepanjen Hospital.
Method: The study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 110 patients undergoing hemodialysis at the dialysis unit of Wava Husada Kepanjen Hospital. Data were collected using a family support questionnaire and a dietary adherence questionnaire. The data analysis was performed using non-parametric statistical tests, specifically the Spearman Rank correlation test.
Results: The study found that the majority of patients undergoing hemodialysis received good family support, with 64 patients (58.2%) reporting good support. Meanwhile, dietary adherence was poor in 76 patients (69.1%). The results of the Spearman correlation test indicated no significant relationship between family support and dietary adherence in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.916 and an (r) value of 0.10.
Conclusion: After conducting the research, it was concluded that diet adherence does not have a significant effect on patients undergoing hemodialysis.
