Abstract

Autistic students in elementary school have greater needs than other students in various aspes and autistic students have the most common problems faced by autistic students hindered in motor development. The age of motor development of autistic children tends not to be in accordance with their chronological age, such as in performing movements that involve eye and hand coordination. Thus, it is important to train the motor skills of autistic students. So that media is needed to train the gross motor skills of autistic students, one of which is an individual learning program through ecobricks.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research was carried out at SD Muhammadiyah 9 Malang with the primary sources being six autistic students, special supervisors and Shadow teachers. The research uses interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. In the observation, there are aspects of ecobrick activities such as collecting bottles, gallons and containers that have been displaced, cutting plastic waste into small parts, putting plastic waste into bottles, compacting plastic waste that has been put into bottles, moving ecobrick bottles. The gross motor aspects include lifting large and light objects, lifting heavy objects, standing upright, standing in balance, sitting in the correct position, sitting comfortably, being able to use objects and being able to insert objects.
The results of the learning program through this Ecobrick activity have a significant impact on the gross motor development of autistic students, such as after the learning program, autistic students can sit for a long time doing activities, climb and descend stairs without falling, and become more focused in learning. This improvement not only reflects the gross motor development of autistic students but also shows that practical and structured activities such as Ecobricks can contribute to increased independence and confidence of autistic students. This study provides evidence that practical activity-based interventions can have a positive impact on the motor development of autistic students.
