Abstract

The tourism sector is one of the largest and strongest sectors in the world economy. Tourism development has the ultimate goal of increasing people's income which in turn can improve people's welfare and economic growth. The research aims to find out the strategy of the Malang city regional government in developing tourism through creative economic development has been implemented in accordance with existing regulations. This research is qualitative research with data obtained from direct interviews with the Head of the Tourism Marketing and Creative Economy Division, and the Creative Economy Development Section of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Department of Malang City. There are three important indicators in developing the creative economy, namely providing infrastructure, developing the creative economy ecosystem and increasing marketing of the creative economy. The results of this research show that the local government of Malang City has implemented existing policies and strategies. This can be seen from the construction of the Malang creative center building and the increasing number of creative economy actors.
