Abstract

General objective: this research is to determine the effect of low impact aerobic exercise on anxiety in elderly people with hypertension in Susuhbango Village, Ringinrejo District, Kediri Regency. The research carried out was pre-experimental research.
Research design: used in this research is one group pretest-posttest design. The instrument in this study used the SAS/SRAS (Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale). Data analysis to test hypotheses on data that is not normally distributed is the Wilxocon Signed Rank Test.
Research results: showed that the anxiety level of the elderly before the Low Impact Aerobic Exercise intervention had an average value of 2.53, indicating a mild level of anxiety. After the intervention, the average anxiety decreased to 1.30, indicating the absence of anxiety. This research shows that Low Impact Aerobic Exercise has a significant effect on reducing anxiety levels in the elderly, with a p-value hypothesis test result of 0.000, which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.
Conclusion: Low Impact Aerobic Exercise has proven to be effective in reducing anxiety levels in the elderly, supporting previous findings that this physical activity reduces anxiety through increasing endorphin and serotonin hormones as well as increasing blood circulation and brain metabolism.
