Abstract
Background: The elderly population in Indonesia faces significant challenges due to aging-related physical and psychological changes, including declining dynamic balance. Maintaining dynamic balance is crucial as it reduces the risk of falls, thereby enhancing quality of life.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between hamstring flexibility and dynamic balance among elderly individuals, providing insights for developing effective interventions.
Method: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using secondary data from elderly community health assessments. The sample consisted of 60 participants who underwent Chair Sit and Reach Test for hamstring flexibility and Four Square Step Test for dynamic balance.
Result: Significant correlation (p<0.05) was found between hamstring flexibility and dynamic balance, with a contingency coefficient of 0.447, indicating a moderate, positive relationship. Factors such as age, gender, BMI, and physical activity also influenced dynamic balance.
Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of hamstring flexibility in maintaining dynamic balance among the elderly, suggesting tailored physiotherapy interventions to reduce fall risks and improve overall health.
