Abstract

This study aims to explore self-care literacy of blind people in various social and environmental contexts. The research approach used is qualitative with descriptive research type, focusing on in-depth understanding of the experiences and practices of self-care of blind people. The research methodology involves in-depth interviews with research subjects selected purposively. The research population consists of blind people aged 18 years and over, while the research sample is taken from several blind individuals living in a particular city, with the criteria of participants who have good communication skills and are willing to share their experiences. The data collection techniques used are semi-structured interviews and participant observation, which are then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify key themes related to self-care. The results of the study indicate that there are variations in self-care literacy, which are influenced by factors such as family support, access to education and adaptive technology, and government policies. The implications of this study highlight the need to improve accessibility and support for blind people, as well as the importance of public awareness of the rights of people with disabilities. This study recommends that government agencies and non-governmental organizations improve life skills training programs for blind people to strengthen their independence. In addition, further research is needed with broader and more diverse samples to deepen understanding of the needs and challenges faced by blind people in various cultural and social contexts.
