Abstract

J-POP has been in Indonesia for a long time, as can be seen from the phenomenon of the large number of adults and children who love games, anime, fashion, this is also a program carried out by the Japanese government, better known as Cool Japan. Cosplay is a kind of activity imitating manga or anime characters carried out by fans. Cosplay activities in Indonesia have a bad view in society. However This cosplay activity is certainly welcomed by anime fans in Indonesia. One of them is a community from Malang called COSUKI. this community is a forum for cosplayers in Malang City. This research aims identify the role and contribution of group communication in the process of formation and increasing self-construction and interaction in influencing group communication Self-perception, self-confidence and identity of cosplayers in Malang City. Studies used is a case study. There were five subjects in this study, namely permanent members of the COSUKI Malang Community who meet the research criteria. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. Theories used in research this is the Social Reality Construction Theory. The research results show that from theory Construction of social reality The COSUKI Malang community has the identity of outstanding cosplayers. The conclusion of this research is group communication between the five subjects is a member of COSUKI, has an important role in shaping the identity of cosplayers in Malang City through regular interactions that strengthen a sense of togetherness, solidarity and shared understanding of the values ​​of cosplay. Through the group communication process, members COSUKI supports each other and shares experiences, which contributes to improvement their identity as cosplayers, both individually and collectively in the Malang City.
