Abstract
Based on the results of the analysis of grade 1 students of SDN Landungsari 2, there are several obstacles that cause low learning outcomes in mathematics lessons on addition and subtraction materials caused by students not mastering addition and subtraction due to limited learning media and considering mathematics difficult because it is related to counting. This study aims to produce an abacus learning media product by arranging counting puzzles that can be applied to mathematics learning on addition and subtraction material in class 1 of SDN Landungsari 2.
The method used in this study is the ADDIE research and development method which contains 5 development steps, namely: (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, (5) Evaluation.
The results of the development research modify a learning media, namely the Abacus Media by arranging Puzzles in the initial counting material of addition and subtraction operations in class I of elementary school, showing a percentage of Material Validation assessment of 87.5%, Media Validation getting a percentage of 90% stating that the material and media are feasible to be implemented. While the response from teachers to the abacus media by arranging puzzles got a percentage of 86.3% and the response from students got 90%. Based on the results that have been obtained, it shows that the development of abacus media by arranging puzzles is feasible to use and can support the learning process of students in class I of elementary school. However, this research certainly still has shortcomings, so innovation and creativity are needed from further researchers.
