Abstract

Salt ponds are one of the important industrial sectors in Indonesia. However, lighting in salt pond areas often becomes an issue, especially in remote areas that do not have adequate access to electricity. A potential solution is to use a lighting system powered by solar energy or solar cells.
This research aims to design and build a lighting system for salt ponds using dual-axis solar cells based on an Arduino microcontroller. The system consists of solar panels that can automatically track the sun's movement using a dual-axis system, thereby generating more optimal electrical power compared to static solar panels. Energy storage is done using batteries, allowing the system to provide lighting to the salt ponds at night.
The design results show that the Arduino-based dual-axis solar cell system can generate an average electrical power of 550 watts, sufficient to supply the lighting needs of a 1-hectare salt pond area. The system is also equipped with light intensity sensors integrated with the Arduino microcontroller to optimize the use of solar energy. In addition, this system is designed to be weather-resistant and easy to maintain, making it suitable for application in salt pond areas, which are generally located in extreme environments.
