Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education in the ISMUBA subject for class V students at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu. Character education is crucial in shaping students' personalities, ensuring they are academically intelligent and morally virtuous. The ISMUBA curriculum, which includes Al-Islam, Kemuhammadiyahan, and Arabic, is designed to integrate Islamic values such as faith, piety, honesty, responsibility, and discipline into the learning process.
A qualitative descriptive research method was used. The research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu, focusing on the class V ISMUBA teachers and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to gather relevant information. Data analysis was performed in four stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured using two techniques: source triangulation and technique triangulation.
The results revealed that implementing character education in the ISMUBA lessons for class V has been effective. Firstly, the ISMUBA lesson materials were designed to integrate Islamic values into every aspect of learning; secondly, ISMUBA teachers used interactive teaching methods that encouraged active student participation; and thirdly, outside the classroom, class V students engaged in extracurricular activities such as Hizbul Wathan, which supported the application of character education. The ISMUBA curriculum for class V was structured to incorporate Muhammadiyah-Pancasila character values into all aspects of ISMUBA learning, including principles of instruction, lesson planning, implementation, instructional module design, and reflection on ISMUBA learning. Overall, the ISMUBA lessons at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu have successfully integrated character education, forming students who excel academically and exhibit noble morals through Islamic teachings and the Kemuhammadiyahan identity.
