Abstract

Education is something that is central to life, the important role of education is to prepare competent people who are able to respond and adapt to the dynamic and challenging life of society. To achieve this goal requires innovation and renewal in the system and its implementation. In the educational context, competency is an important part that must be considered. The learning models currently being developed are very diverse, one of which is Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). The CTL learning model is a learning model that emphasizes students linking the concepts and theories they obtain with their life experiences. The application of the CTL model is expected to make it easier for students to carry out the learning process. This research wants to know the contribution of the CTL learning model to biology competency. The method used in this research is a literature study, the research procedure is carried out by searching for journals about CTL learning models indexed by Sinta using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the research results, it was found that the CTL learning model can improve students' biological competence. These results can be seen from the publication trend of the CTL learning model which increases every year, apart from that it can also be seen from the variety of competencies measured in the CTL learning model. It can be concluded that the CTL learning model is effective in improving students' biological competence.
