Abstract

Background: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is a heart function disorder caused by a lack of blood supply to the myocardium due to narrowing of the coronary arteries and blockage of the coronary arteries. According to WHO data in 2016 CAD is still the main cause of death in Asian countries. For the Southeast Asian region, 3.5 million deaths CAD were found, 52% of which were caused by myocardial infarction. The incidence of heart disease in developing countries such as Indonesia, the incidence rate continues to increase every year. The survey results from Basic Health Research in 2013 showed the prevalence of coronary heart disease in Indonesia based on the diagnosis of health workers and symptoms was 1.5% or an estimated 2,650,340 people.
The purpose of the study: To determine the relationship between the level of compliance in performing exercise with the fitness level of CAD patients in the Outpatient Installation of Prof. Dr. WZ Johannes Hospital. The research design used is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional. The population in this study were CAD patients at the Cardiac Care Installation at Prof DR WZ Johannes Kupang Hospital who did exercise at home with a total of 30 CAD patients.
Research Methods: The sampling technique used in this study is a non-probability sampling technique, namely accidental sampling. The population in this study were CAD patients at the Cardiac Care Installation of Prof. DR WZ Johannes Kupang Hospital who were given a dose to do exercise at home with a total of 35 CAD patients according to the inclusion criteria. Analysis of the results of this study using the Spearman correlation test if the data is not normally distributed and using the Pearson correlation test if the data is normally distributed.
Research Results: Based on the Spearman Rho correlation value, it shows p-value: 0.013 (p-value <α:0.05) which means that there is a relationship between adherence to self-exercise and the fitness level of CAD patients in the Outpatient Installation (Cardiac Polyclinic) RSUD Prof. Dr. WZ Johannes. The correlation coefficient value (R value) shows 0.416, which means that there is a close relationship between adherence to self-exercise and the fitness level of Coronary Artery Disease patients in the weak correlation category. The results of this study can provide information for patients as preventive and rehabilitative measures, especially independent exercise for physical fitness.
