Abstract

The purpose of this research is to understand the social actions of K-Pop idol fans among students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at University Muhammadiyah Malang. Therefore, the study is titled "Social Actions of K-Pop Idol Fans among Students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at University Muhammadiyah Malang." This research employs a qualitative method, focusing on describing the nature or characteristics of a particular object or phenomenon. The data obtained is analyzed using Paul Virilio's dromology theory, which encompasses an understanding of speed and technology. Dromology theory includes three key concepts that need to be analyzed: speed and power, dromocracy and militarism, and technology. The social actions of K-Pop fans are often used for various purposes involving interaction and relationships among fans. This theory impacts the South Korean music industry, which needs to be analyzed through the social actions of K-Pop fans, specifically their participation in the rapid dissemination of information online. The findings of this study are as follows: in terms of speed and power, K-Pop fans engage in social actions such as inviting fellow fandom members to purchase merchandise, encouraging them to stream and vote to support their idols in music awards, organizing shared concert ticket purchases, arranging shared accommodations for K-Pop concerts, participating in charity events with other fans, and inviting fellow fandom members to participate in dance cover competitions organized by the fandom to compete against other fan groups and win these competitions. Regarding the concepts of dromocracy, militarism, and technology, K-Pop fans navigate through these two concepts. Therefore, the social actions undertaken by K-Pop fans among students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at University Muhammadiyah Malang will continue due to the acceleration of technology that enables instant and widespread dissemination of information.
