A variety of alternative information, both print and electronic media offers many ways to know the developments and changes that occur. Along with the development of mass media technologies are competing to get the target and one way to find out the target / audience is through analysis of their lifestyle. . With so many news choices that are presented in newspapers ranging from entertainment to information, the reader will be easier to obtain information or news to fit their needs. But the diversity of lifestyles reader indicated by activity, their interest and their interest and opinions about something, then they have a different tendency also in consuming news. From there the author wants to know the relationship between lifestyle and their readers their socioeconomic status and choice of news they read. This research was conducted in the area of Malang Municipality with the subject of research on Java Post morning newspaper reader, with the aim "to determine whether there is relationship between lifestyle Java Post morning newspaper readers as well and the relationship between socioeconomic status with a choice of news. The population in this study are all the readers / subscribers who get the individual Java Post Java Post newspaper on a subscription of 10,162 subscribers, to use sampling techniques Proportional Sampling Area with a total sample of 100 people taken based on the customer's total population of each district region . Data collection techniques using questionnaires or questionnaires. Data analysis technique in this study is to cross-tabulation technique linking independent variables with the dependent variable. The results conclude that most of the morning Java Post newspaper readers have a high lifestyle and socioeconomic status are in A. Relations between the two independent variables (socioeconomic status and lifestyle) with the dependent variable (choice of news) looks at those trends in selecting / reading the news. At high lifestyle categories of respondents tended to read political news, business economics, respondents in the lifestyle categories like news medium light as the metropolis, the country, while respondents in the category of low lifestyle refers to entertainment news and criminals. So also in SSE respondents showed the same composition as in the case of lifestyle with a choice of news. The end result of this research are expected a little more to help the next researcher who has a research interest in lifestyle and consumption of media audiences and also for the press publishing company's management concerning the description of Java Pos, Pos Java customers to their propensity to consume news contained in their newspapers .
