Abstract

The process of implementing character education contains three main components, including moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. The moral aspect of knowing is instilled through learning activities in the classroom, while moral feeling and moral action are instilled through activities in the classroom and outside the classroom. Of these three components, the moral action aspect must be carried out continuously through daily habituation. Based on the facts in the field, there are still many students who do not have good behavior, both towards their teachers and their friends and there are still many students who speak harsh language or in high tones, so the thing that is associated with Hizbul Wathan is using three components, namely moral knowing, where students are given knowledge and understanding of the values contained in Hizbul Wathan's scouting regarding universal character education, moral feeling and moral action, where students must be able to feel the emotional aspects of becoming a human being with character. and students must be able to relate to the behavior or actions carried out in the habits of Hizbul Wathan scouting so that good character is formed.This research aims to understand the role study of Hizbul Wathan among fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 08 Dau using a qualitative approach.
The approach used by the researcher is qualitative. The presence of the researcher is significant as the researcher plays a full role during observations, acting as a crucial instrument as well as a planner. This research was conducted in the field, meaning the researcher performed observations of the subjects, conducted interviews with relevant parties such as the principal, class teachers, students, and documented activities supporting this research. The research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 08 Dau Malang, located at Jl. Margo Basuki No.48, Jetis, Mulyoagung, Kec. Dau, Malang, East Java 65151. The research took place during the 2023/2024 academic year.
The implementation of Hizbul Wathan activities at SD Muhammadiyah 08 Dau appears uneven and tends to be teacher-centered. The execution of Hizbul Wathan activities is considered less optimal in conveying the activity material to students. Previously, activities involved practical sessions, but now they are only delivered through sharing sessions. The character formation of Hizbul Wathan is an independent spirit, leader, diligent.
