Abstract

Pasuruan Regency is one of the regencies in East Java province. The economic condition of Pasuruan Regency is very strategic. Pasuruan Regency is the right choice for developing infrastructure investment. Transportation has an important influence in supporting community needs. The rapid increase in vehicle growth has resulted in high traffic volumes. Therefore, improvements are needed on road sections to overcome damage to the pavement layers. A potential strategy to reduce road damage is to increase layer thickness. The concept of overlay refers to the process of overlaying one image or element on another. overlay refers to an additional layer of asphalt located on the top of the road surface structure. The aim is to increase the thickness of the road layer so as to optimize its function for transportation users. To ensure the proper thickness of the road siding, the author uses two comparative ways to establish safe and substantial packing. These methods include: Bina Marga Method in 2017 and AASHTO in 1993. The planned thickness of the additional layer (Overlay) of the Bina Marga Method is 10 cm with a work cost of IDR 7,336,228,000 (Seven Billion Three Hundred Thirty Six Million Two Hundred Twenty Eight thousand rupiah). And the thickness of the additional layer (Overlay) of the AASHTO Method is 18 cm with a work cost of IDR 10,830,868,000 (Ten Billion Eight Hundred Thirty Million Eight Hundred Sixty Eight Thousand Rupiah). Due to the price efficiency factor and the small difference in thickness, an additional layer thickness (overlay) calculated using the Bina Marga Pavement Design Manual method of 10 cm was used.
