Abstract

Oyster mushroom cultivation is an industry in Malang Regency. In addition to cultivating oyster mushrooms, the company also produces baglog made from sawdust. The aim of this research is to develop a good oyster mushroom growing medium that suits the needs and desires of consumers with a focus on using damen as a substrate for a mixture of sawdust. The analytical tools used in this research are the QFD method and analysis of the development
of planting media, including a mixture of sawdust and cement which was tested as an alternative substrate. The results of the research show that there are 18 attributes of consumer needs and desires with priority attributes, namely planting media made from wood dust. Wood powder is a priority need for consumers in developing oyster mushroom growing media in Malang. This research also tested three mixed planting media: 100% wood dust, 50% wood
powder and 50% damen, as well as 25% wood powder and 75% damen through experiments. The results showed that a mixture of 50% sawdust and 50% damen was the most optimal in absorbing water, retaining humidity, and accelerating the spread of mycelium. The advice given to the company is to make improvements to the planting media formula to improve and develop the planting media according to consumer needs and desires.
