Abstract

Education is not necessarily just a transfer of knowledge but also as a means of forming
religious character through transfer of value, education is actually not seen as limited to information
and skills but includes the desire for the needs of individuals who are morally good, along with the
phenomenon of the times, changes in the character of students began to shift from the objectives of
national education so that there needs to be an application in forming and developing religious character
in students, Daarul Fikri Junior High School Malang City implements the Quran Tahfidz Program as a
means of forming the religious character of its students.
This study aims (1) to determine the implementation of the Quran memorising programme at
Daarul Fikri Junior High School in Malang. (2) to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the
Quran memorising programme at Daarul Fikri Junior High School in Malang. (3) to find out the
religious character of students through the Quran Tahfidz programme at Daarul Fikri Junior High
School in Malang. This research is a field research (field reaserch) with qualitative research method
with phenomenology type. Data collection used observation, interview and documentation techniques.
Data analysis techniques using Miles Huberman and Saldana, namely: data reduction, data display and
conclusion drawing. Data validity in this study uses triangulation triangulation of sources and
techniques.
The results showed that the implementation of the Tahfidz Qur'an programme at Daarul Fikri
Junior High School in Malang has been going well, this can be seen from the implementation of the
Tahfidz Qur'an programme at Daarul Fikri Junior High School in Malang which is carried out 6 days a
week before teaching and learning activities, namely at 07.00 to 19.00 hours. 00 40 which is divided
into 4 days Monday-Thursday memorization and murojaah activities, 2 days Friday-Saturday Al-Qur'an
tarjamah activities, activities are carried out in the classroom accompanied by teachers, the methods
used by teachers in the Tahfidz Qur'an programme are deposit and muroja'ah methods, the Tahfidz
Qur'an programme is one of the efforts to form the religious character of students which is carried out
through habituation, understanding and exemplary. Supporting factors in the Tahfidz Quran programme
include, the enthusiasm of students, the role of educators and a conducive environment. while inhibiting
factors include, lack of motivation of students, different abilities of students in memorising. The
religious character of students formed through the Quran Tahfidz programme includes, first, good
behaviour includes, second, diligent worship includes: performing duha prayers, diligently praying
before doing activities and practicing daily prayers that are memorised.
