Abstract
Background: Acute Watery Diarrhea (DCA) is a common disease in children which can cause dehydration and electrolyte disturbances if not treated optimally. WHO data (2017) shows that 1.7 million children experience diarrhea every year, while in Indonesia, the Ministry of Health (2018) reports the prevalence of diarrhea in children at 12.3%, estimated at around 60 million cases per year, especially (70-80% ) in children under 5 years (± 40 million cases). Appropriate fluid management is essential in the care of DCA patients to prevent further complications. DCA that is not treated properly can cause serious complications, such as dehydration, hypovolemic shock, hypokalemia, hypoglycemia, and seizures. This case study aims to explain fluid management in An. Z, a 1 year old child who was diagnosed with DCA in the Children's Room at Malang City General Hospital.
Method: This research is a case study structured through a series of nursing care including: assessment, data analysis, nursing intervention, implementation and evaluation. The process of assessing and collecting data is carried out using various techniques, including: interviews with patients, observation and documentation. Fluid management carried out in this case was RL 450CC rehydration within 5 hours, then infusion of KA-EN 3B 14 macro drops in 500 ml/24.
Results: Based on the results of the study, there are two main diagnoses in AN patients. Z, namely: diarrhea and nutritional deficit. Then the interventions given to the patient are: diarrhea management and nutritional management.
Conclusion: After carrying out the surgical intervention for 3x24 hours on the patient Mrs. After carrying out the nursing intervention for 3x24 hours on the patient Mrs. M, then nursing problems such as diarrhea and nutritional deficits as symptoms of DCA can be resolved.
