Abstract

Character education at SMP Kartika 48 Malang has become the school's tag line, namely knowledge and character, so the aim of the research is to find out the basic thoughts and Islamic values in character education at SMP Kartika 48 Malang. This research uses a qualitative approach, namely a research approach used to research natural conditions. Researchers in a qualitative research approach act as key instruments with a case study type approach. Qualitative research results emphasize "meaning" rather than "generalization". The sample for this research is the character education system at SMP Kartika 48 Malang. The data collection methods used were interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results of this research are: (1) knowing the basic rationale for character education at SMP Kartika 48 Malang, (2) also knowing the Islamic values that exist in character education at SMP Kartika 48 Malang. Based on the data analysis carried out, it was concluded that character education at Kartika Middle School is based on the school's vision and mission and also the 5 main foundations of the Ministry of Education and Culture's character education, namely religious character, Nationalist character, integrity character, Independent character, Mutual cooperation character. Meanwhile, Islamic values in character education are prioritizing worship, love of useful knowledge and uswatun hasanah.
