Abstract

Background: Abdominal burst is a serious post-operative complication where the abdominal surgical wound does not heal properly and causes an open wound. Risk factors include infection, malnutrition, and medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus. Effective treatment can be done using a bogota bag, although the bogota bag is a simple and effective method for closing open wounds, there are potential risks such as intestinal perforation. Appropriate evaluation and treatment is necessary to treat this condition and reduce the risk of further complications. The aim of this case study is to determine the results of wound care in patients with postoperative abdominal bursts.
Method: The research method for this Final Scientific Work of Ners uses case study research. In this case study, researchers used 1 patient managed with a diagnosis of Burst Abdomen Post Bogota. Researchers used data collection methods in accordance with the rules of the nursing process which include: Assessment, Data Analysis, Nursing Intervention, and Nursing Implementation, as well as Nursing Evaluation. In the data collection process, the author used interview/anamnesis techniques, observation, documentation studies related to the patients being managed.
Results: After the wound care intervention was carried out, the results were obtained on the first day of treatment: tissue and skin layer damage was quite increased, pain was moderate, the smell of the wound was slightly reduced, and skin redness was quite increased. On the second day of treatment: damage to the tissue and skin layers increased quite a lot, the pain decreased quite a lot, the smell of the wound decreased, the redness of the skin still increased quite a lot. Third day of treatment: moderate tissue and skin layer damage, pain has decreased quite a lot, no odor from the wound, moderate redness of the skin.
Discussion: The main nursing problem in this managed case was skin integrity disorders and wound care interventions and health education were carried out. Researchers recommend wound care using modern dressings and health education as follow-up therapy, as well as recommending therapy or action other than installing a bogota bag, namely installing a VAMMFT.
