Abstract
Background: As smartphones develop, the psychological situation of teenagers can also experience different reactions for each individual. There are teenagers who use smartphones as a facility to improve their academic abilities, but there are also teenagers who are lazy about moving and spend as much time as possible in front of their smartphones. This study aims to determine the relationship between smartphone use and the physical activity of nursing students.
Method: This research method uses quantitative research methods. The population in this study were health students from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang class 2020 to 2022 from nursing study program students. The samples in this study were regular active students from the 2020-2022 class and were willing to download the application that had been determined by the researcher (Strava & StayFree). This sampling technique is accidental sampling. The data analysis technique uses univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Spearman correlation test.
Results: Research results: Through the Spearman correlation test using the SPSS 22 for Windows application, it was found that there was no relationship between smartphone use and physical activity because the p-value was 0.578 which was greater than alpha (0.05). This shows that there is no significant correlation between these two variables.
Conclusion: From the results of research conducted on UMM Nursing Students in 2024, it can be concluded that the majority of respondents were in the age range 18-21 (late adolescence) totaling 31. Based on the research results it was found that there was no relationship between smartphone use and physical activity due to The p-value is 0.578 which is greater than alpha (0.05). This shows that there is no significant correlation between these two variables. This conclusion has important implications for the world of nursing in dealing with situations in the field
