Abstract

This research will be carried out in 2023/2024. The systematic literature review (SLR) aims to find out the trends and progress of research on critical thinking skills that have been published in Scopus indexed journals, as well as their possibilities.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method.
Systematic Literature Review (SLR) explanations are used in this study to find, evaluate, and analyze articles very carefully and seriously. The PRISMA model is used for inclusion and exclusion.
The trend of critical thinking increased sharply in 2019-2023 by 20 articles (68.96%). The most dominant type of research was the quantitative approach (13 articles). Based on the nationality of authors and collaborations, Indonesia has the most authors (9, or 34.61%) compared to other countries. Furthermore, the authors
of critical thinking publications are dominated by the Asian continent as many as 13 authors (50%). 18 articles were published with non-collaborative status (69.23%). Regarding the keywords of the 26 articles, there is an opportunity in the future to conduct research related to critical thinking with contextual, scientific, and literacy learning to improve the ability of elementary school students to think critically. In addition, the contribution of critical thinking research is in the form of research contributions to students' critical skills in learning, improvement of critical thinking using learning models, and testing of critical thinking improvement carried out using certain media. There are many benefits of critical skills from students in learning, there has been no research on critical attitudes that involve students with special needs in learning. So it can be used as a gap for further research. There are several research variables that need to be updated such as the influence of the latest learning model, as well as learning models that can accommodate various student learning styles such as collaborative learning models, flipped classrooms, etc. And the effectiveness of each media used has not been compared as well and as much as
possible. In the future, this can be used as material for further research to add to the literature differences related to critical thinking.
