Abstract
The success of a society depends on the generation's ability to create innovation. Literacy skills support students' concentration and critical and innovative thinking abilities. Literacy is not just reading and writing but includes critical thinking skills utilizing printed, visual and digital sources of knowledge. The research objectives were (1) to describe MENURITA's habits in supporting the literacy and critical thinking skills of fifth grade students at SDN Junrejo 02 Batu, (2) to describe the literacy and critical thinking abilities of fifth grade students at SDN Junrejo 02 Batu.
The type of research used is qualitative. This research was carried out at SDN Junrejo 02 Batu with a focus on 30 class V students. Research was obtained through interviews, observation, documentation and field notes. The four types of data analysis used in this research are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Two techniques are used to check the validity of the data, namely source triangulation and technical triangulation.
MENURITA will be implemented in the 2023/2024 academic year. The MENURITA habituation program is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 07.00 to 07.30, MENURITA activities include reading non-subject books and summarizing the results of the reading, students also present the results of their resumes. Students' literacy abilities are demonstrated by (1) students understanding the essence of reading, (2) students being able to think critically by being literate. Critical thinking students analyze the core of the reading, determine the steps and sources of information to be used.
